Extruder Services

Extruder cookers are widely used in the breakfast and snack food sectors. 

Leatherhead's twin screw extruder can be used to manufacture a wide range of cold and hot processed products including granular materials and expanded open texture systems. The extruder can be configured in a number of ways allowing the evaluation of a number of processing parameters and their effect on product characteristics. These features combined make Leatherhead's extruder a useful tool in your breakfast and snack food development procedures. 

Extruder features:

• Extruder: MPF 50:25 – twin screw, fully intermeshing, co-rotating cooker extruder (clam shell type).
• Nominal barrel diameter: 50 mm
• Barrel length: 25 L/D (1.25 m)
• Barrel temperature control: electric resistance heaters. Dedicated chiller unit attached.
• Cooling divided into 9 zones: max temperature 200°C
• Maximum screw speed: 500 rpm
• Typical output (expanded cereal): 60-100 kg/hr
• Powder feed: Twin Screw K-Tron
• Liquid feeds: supplied by individual peristaltic pumps.
• Data recording: 6 thermocouples located along barrel length linked to portable data logger and PC.
• Screw configurations: multiple arrangements available to give: variable product retention and/or low, moderate and high volume conveying sections.
