Written by Dr Peter Wareing, a global expert in food factory microbiology, HACCP and mycology, together with SkillGate’s online training expertise, this exciting new course has been designed to deliver the best quality training in an enjoyable interactive format, that students can follow at their own pace.

Peter, who is also the course tutor, has travelled the world delivering food safety and microbiology training over the past 20 years and many companies and individuals have benefitted from his wealth of experience.

Food & Drink Microbiology is for employees who need to understand food microbiology at a level that will enable them to apply good practices in their factories, and understand the test procedures and results on their products. The course has been carefully developed to ensure that delegates optimise learning time, by studying 8 concise modules which take around 30 minutes each to complete and focus on key areas of the subject. Online material is supplemented with e-briefings for each part of the course that include a quiz to ensure knowledge retention, as well as short assessment tasks that are designed to test students’ understanding, and develop search and evaluation skills that can be used in the workplace when the course is completed. Course assessment work should be sent to Dr Peter Wareing for comments and feedback. A FAQ section on the course website will be developed and added as questions are received.

Training managers will be able to monitor progress of staff online throughout the learning process to ensure their staff understand the key concepts. Results for the e-briefing quizzes and course examination are available immediately online following their submission. All of the course assignments should be completed and submitted to Dr Peter Wareing who will assess the assignment work. Provided the candidate achieves 75% correct answers to the examination and quizzes, and the assignment work is satisfactory, they will be awarded with a Certificate from Leatherhead Food Research.
