Leatherhead forecasts slowdown in growth for Chinese exports

China is a net exporter of food and drink, with exports in volume terms worth between 25 million and 30 million tonnes. By value, exports were worth just over USD31bn in 2008, although lower growth is forecast for 2009 as a result of the melamine scandal.
Although the market seems set for further growth over the next five years, according to latest findings from Leatherhead there remains a lot of uncertainty over the future development of products promoting a heart health or an anti-ageing benefit.
