    Food Law Update - Ireland

    Description

    Leatherhead's Food Law Update is an annual overview of EU and national legislation of interest to the food industry in Ireland.

    Topical subjects, and those where there have been significant changes, will be covered in detailed presentations.

    The 2012 programme will be presented by speakers from Leatherhead Food Research, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), and Maree Gallagher Associates, and will include updates on additives legislation, health claims, fortified foods and PARNUTS, and an overview of the new EU Food Information (Labelling) Regulation.

    The course is ideal for anyone in the food industry, or local or national government, who wishes to keep up-to-date with recent changes and developments in food law.

    11.30 Fortified Foods and PARNUTS – Amendments and Proposals

    An overview of Regulation (EC) No. 1925/2006 which controls the addition of vitamins, minerals and other substances to foods, as well as the proposed consolidation and deregulation of legislation surrounding Foods for Particular Nutritional Uses (PARNUTS).

    Food additives legislation has been simplified, and new, easy to navigate Annexes were published in November 2011. For the first time rules have been set on additives approved for use in additives, enzymes, flavourings and nutrients. This presentation will include an overview of these and will also include a look at the EU additives database, and an update on developing EU enzymes and flavourings legislation.
