Leatherhead Food Research to address industry issues at Vitafoods Europe 2015

Leatherhead Food Research is taking to the stage at Vitafoods Europe 2015, providing insight into both latest innovations in weight management products as well as formulations techniques to create healthier products that sell.

Vitafoods Europe, the leading exhibition for the nutraceutical, functional food & beverages and dietary supplement industries, will once again return to Palexpo, Geneva from the 5-7 May 2015, with visitors descending on the exhibition to source new suppliers and take advantage of the educational and business opportunities on offer. Amongst the visitor attractions is the Vitafoods Live! Theatre in which Leatherhead Food Research’s Director of Business Development & Marketing, Alice Cadman will take part in a debate on formulating for reduced salt, sugar and fat.

The panel discussion at 11:30 on Wednesday 6 May will look at latest best practice within formulation technology and provide a 'must-do' guide, outlining the key steps required, for achieving a better, healthier and more profitable end product. It will address how to successfully formulate for reduction in salt, sugar or fat whilst maintaining the desired level of qualities such as texture, taste and overall appearance. Additionally, Alice will discuss the particular importance of maintaining those core attributes when re-formulating an existing product to create a healthier version of a consumer favourite.

Another of Leatherhead’s specialist’s, Dr Roberta Re, Nutrition Research Manager, will also present within the Finished Products Theatre at the co-located Finished Products Europe event. This theatre offers valuable insight into the latest dietary supplement and functional food and drinks markets and future trends. Roberta’s presentation, at 3:00pm on Wednesday 6 May, will focus on weight management products.

Both Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Europe provide an excellent platform for networking opportunities, allowing attendees to become better acquainted with the latest ingredient solutions and technical information required to implement true innovations in product development.

Running alongside the exhibitions the in-depth Vitafoods Europe Conference returns on the 5-6 May. Covering the full breadth of the industry the three stream conference, split into 'Your Business', 'Your Science' and 'Your Product', will cover 23 core topics including consumer engagement, regulation, heart health, cognitive health and healthy ageing. Dr Roberta Re will be chairing the weight management module within the Vitafoods Europe conference programme; leading this part of the day and setting the tone for the discussions.
