Leatherhead Food Research provides expertise and support to the global food and beverage sector. We provide practical solutions that cover all stages of a product’s lifecycle from consumer insight and ingredient innovation to food safety consultancy and global regulatory advice. The Food Safety & Analytical Services department provides theoretical and practical support in the areas of microbiology, chemistry and microscopy. The opportunity
We are recruiting a Scientist to join our Food Safety & Analytical Services team. The role is an entry-level position for someone with 1 years’ experience of laboratory work gained from working in industry, or a consultancy. You will provide chemical and microbiological analysis contributing to consultancy projects for the global food and beverage industry. You will also support our Cooking Instructions department. The role will be based at our Great Burgh office.
Key responsibilities:
- Chemical analysis
- Microbiological analysis
- Cooking instruction generation and verification
- Maintenance of the quality system
Experience & qualifications
- Degree in microbiology, chemistry, biology, food science or related discipline
- 1 year experience in microbiology or chemistry laboratory
- Use of HPLC highly desirable
- Passion for food and cooking highly desirable
- Second language useful but not essential
- Excellent interpretation skills & eye for detail
- Excellent customer service
- Flexible and able to accept and work with change
- A proactive, positive and enthusiastic “can do” attitude
- Ability to effectively build working relationships with colleagues, clients and external contacts
